晚上不够睡, 白天不够精神: Chronicling the Evolution of My Sleeping Habits

I did this as a representation of the changes in me over time. The first two cells are the past, where I used to be happy and bouncy in the daytime, and sleeping at night. But now, my eyebags are humongous, and I am so lethargic in sunlight and yet so wide awake at night.

Up until I was Y3, I aimed to sleep by 10.30pm every night. Looking for me past 11.30pm was mission impossible. School was pretty slack then. On non-school days, people had to tell me at least a day in advance if they wanted me to wake up before noon. I did not need to study. Finishing up my homework in time for submission was all that was required.

Towards the end of Y3, throughout Y4, and also for the first few months of Y5, I aimed to sleep by 11pm, and I was successful about three-quarters of the time. There were some days that required me to be up until 2am for sure, because of IDMI or study or whatnot, but it was kind of rare, and it never lasted for more than two consecutive nights, which would easily be recovered by taking a nap in the aftnn the next day.

Term 2 in Y5 was probably when it all started going downhill. I had a not-so-pleasant PW experience, coupled with NDP responsibilities and all. The worst it came to was 1hr of sleep each day for a whole week.

Up until now, I have trained a super awkz body clock. I can fall asleep anywhere, anytime. Otherwise, I can go without sleep for approximately 2.5 days, and then I would sleep 15+hrs straight during the weekend.

The cute thing about sijia is that she can't get over the fact that I used to sleep by 11pm, so each time I reply her text after midnight or 1am in the morn, she'll have the {OMG YOU'RE ALIVE?!} kind of reaction. It's just like how I still can't get over her birthday, and each vday I still feel a sense of renewed amazement. I guess that's why we're friends. Cos we can't get over each other! Haha.
